Rules & Information

We strive to maintain our lakes to the highest possible standards, whilst ensuring the well-being of our fish/wildlife and the safety and enjoyment of our guests. Prior to fishing our venue, members are required to familiarise themselves with both the general rules as well as the specific rules relating to the lake you are fishing.

Please be aware that rules differ between the three lakes, so please check. If you are ever in doubt, please contact us.

General Rules

  • Night fishing at newhay Lakes is exclusively for members only. If you wish to night fish our venue, please visit our becoming a member page.
  • All Litter To Be Removed From Site & Taken Home
  • No Excessive Alcohol Consumption
  • No Drug Taking
  • No Fires – BBQ’s Are Permitted But Must Not Burn The Grass
  • Otter Gate To Be Kept Closed At All Times
  • No Dogs
  • No Non Fishing Guests Unless Through Prior Arrangement
  • All Fish Remain The Property Of Newhay Lakes
  • No Loud Radios
  • No Antisocial or Generally Disruptive Behaviour
  • Respect Other Anglers At All Times

Specimen Lake Rules

  • No Braided Mainline
  • No Leadcore
  • Micro Barbed Hooks Must Be Used
  • All Anglers Must be Aged 16+
  • Minimum 42” Landing Net
  • Carp Cradles Must Be Used (Provided)
  • No Fixed Leads or Naked Rigs
  • Safe Zone Leaders or Tubing Must Be Used
  • No Tents – Bivvies & Brollies Only
  • Fish Care Kit Must Be Carried & Used
  • Maximum 3 Rods
  • Fishing From Designated Pegs Only
  • No Grass Carp In Retainers
  • Anglers Must Not Be More Than 1 Peg Away From Their Rods
  • No Nuts Of Any Kind
  • No Particles Unless Bought Prepared
  • No Ground Bait or Method Feeders
  • Bait Boats Are Permitted – Please Be Courteous & Stay In Your Own Swim
  • Rig Checks May Be Carried Out
  • No Surface Fishing
  • No Spodding / Spombing
  • No Sacking fish under any circumstances
  • Carp (excluding grass carp) can be held in retainers for up to 20 minutes only – this is ample time to prepare camera equipment and take photos

Coarse Lake Rules

  • Landing Nets & Unhooking Mats Must Be Used When Carp Fishing
  • If Carp Fishing, Fish Care Kits Must Be Carried & Used
  • Maximum Size 10 Hook
  • Barbless Hooks Only
  • No Keepnets
  • No Tents – Bivvies & Brollies Only
  • Maximum Three Rods
  • No Bait Boats
  • Groundbait & Sweetcorn in Feeders or Pole Cups Only – Not By Hand
  • No Cat Food
  • No Nuts / No Tigers
  • No Unattended Rods
  • All Fish To Be Returned To The Water ASAP
  • Children Under 12 Must Be Accompanied By An Adult At All Times

Match Lake Rules
