Our 1.5acre specimen lake provides the experienced carp angler with exceptional catch opportunities. With both mirror, common and grass carp to well over 35lbs +, backed up by an incredible stock of old mirror and common carp from mid-doubles to high 20lbs, the Newhay Specimen Lake attracts serious anglers from all over the region.

The lake has a silty bottom and large amounts of silk weed, however, there are plenty of clear spots to be found and features to fish to. The water is gin clear, although a dye is used to supress the weed.

The specimen lake is located at the back of the complex, just a short walk from our private car park. The lake has eight comfortable pegs all with easy access.

Non-Fishing Guests £5 Per Night – strictly by prior arrangement

No Braided Mainline
No Leadcore
Micro Barbed Hooks Must Be Used
All Anglers Must be Aged 16+
Minimum 42” Landing Net
Carp Cradles Must Be Used (Provided)
No Fixed Leads or Naked Rigs
Safe Zone Leaders or Tubing Must Be Used
No Tents – Bivvies & Brollies Only
Fish Care Kit Must Be Carried & Used
Maximum 3 Rods
Fishing From Designated Pegs Only
No Grass Carp In Retainers
Anglers Must Not Be More Than 1 Peg Away From Their Rods
No Nuts Of Any Kind
No Particles Unless Bought Prepared
No Ground Bait or Method Feeders
Bait Boats Are Permitted – Please Be Courteous & Stay In Your Own Swim
Rig Checks May Be Carried Out
No Surface Fishing
No Spodding / Spombing
No Sacking fish under any circumstances
Carp (excluding grass carp) can be held in retainers for up to 20 minutes only – this is ample time to prepare camera equipment and take photos

No Excessive Alcohol Consumption
No Drug Taking
No Fires – BBQ’s Are Permitted But Must Not Burn The Grass
Otter Gate To Be Kept Closed At All Times
No Dogs
No Non Fishing Guests Unless Through Prior Arrangement
All Fish Remain The Property Of Newhay Lakes
No Loud Radios
No Antisocial or Generally Disruptive Behaviour
